I always thought red wines were too heavy until I tried a Pinot Noir from Oregon last night. It was surprisingly light and refreshing. Have you had any similar experiences with a wine that defied your expectations?

I guess I assumed all reds would taste heavy because of my past experiences with Merlot. Anyone else been pleasantly surprised by a different varietal?
