There are so many pretentious myths surrounding wine tasting, which can really detract from the joy of simply savoring the flavors. Drinking wine should be about enjoyment, not intimidation!
I once attended a wine-tasting event where a Sommelier explained that people should trust their palate over textbooks. It was refreshing to hear, and it made the experience much more enjoyable.
