Was sipping on a recent buy this evening and had a rather confusing experience. I've had dry wines before, but this one felt like I was chewing sand. How dry is too dry?

Even paired it with a cheese platter in hopes to soften the blow, but alas, the dryness prevailed. Does anyone have a recommendation to combat overly dry wines? @Christa_Crist58
